Meet Hannah Webb: Untold's Newest U.S. Board Member

Untold's U.S. Board of Directors is the governing body of Untold. Board members support Untold in many ways — offering advice drawn from their own diverse experience and expertise and advocating for the mission and vision of Untold. Members commit to a three-year term, traveling to Africa within their first term of service, supporting Untold within their top giving priorities, and serving as ambassadors for Untold within their sphere of influence.

Hannah Webb, alongside her husband, Tommy, and their four children, has supported Untold for over thirteen years. She is now stepping into a position on Untold's U.S. Board of Directors. We're excited to see what God has planned for Hannah in this new role, and to share more of her story below.

The seed that led Hannah Webb to Untold was planted years ago when she was a teenager growing up in Fayetteville, Georgia. For three summers, Hannah traveled with her church’s youth group to support a nurse working in Zimbabwe. During these trips, she experienced profound hospitality and love from the Tonga people of the region, worshipped alongside other believers, and was inspired by the local work she witnessed.

It was on these three trips that Hannah’s heart was opened towards the people of East and Southern Africa and the global community of Christ followers.

“The joy that I saw in them was the richness of their faith and the love they had for each other and the love for the Lord. It was so very strong.” Hannah shared. “And I just remember thinking that that was so much more rich and important than the things of this world that I was seeking.”

This lesson has remained close to Hannah’s heart in the years since those experiences. She continued: “It has impacted my life tremendously to have a picture of what the joy of the Lord does in enriching people's lives and just how special it is to connect with believers across the world, and be connected so quickly to have these special relationships built on the foundation of Christ.”

Hannah currently lives on the south side of Atlanta with her husband, Tommy Webb, and their four children. Alongside raising her children, Hannah started a small business two years ago called Share the Load that provides home management services to households and employs mothers in the Atlanta area. The Webbs attend Passion City Church, are deeply involved in their neighborhood community, and love to spend time with their family who live close by.

Hannah first heard about Untold when she sat down next to Justin Miller at a conference in Chicago. Through casual conversation, they soon realized they grew up on the same street in Fayetteville and have since lived near each other in Atlanta with their families. Hannah learned from Justin about the work of Untold and shared her own stories of the impact Zimbabwe had on her youth. Several weeks later the Webbs attended an Untold vision night and their hearts were drawn towards the Untold mission.

“We love the mission, love the organization, love the people, love what's going on so we just decided that it was going to be part of how we give as a family,” Hannah said.

She continued: “The ‘what’ and the ‘how’ I think is what has really stuck with us. The ‘what’ is the holistic part, and the ‘how’ is the local church. And I think that's so in the heart of what Jesus calls us to. Those that are present and part of the local church, they're part of the programming. And I think that's such a wise and sustainable way to do ministry.”

Hannah described her family’s relationship with Untold, as giving partners, as thoughtful and deeply personal. The one-on-one relationships with members of the Atlanta-based team provide deeper insight into Untold’s present and future plans, and the ways the Webbs can be uniquely involved with specific aspects.

“I have found in particular over the years that those that I have connected with from the donor engagement side have really wanted to understand our heart as a family and what's important and help us connect to different parts of Untold that are meaningful to us,” Hannah said.

After many years of friendship with the Miller family and supporting Untold financially, Hannah accepted an invitation earlier this year to serve on Untold’s U.S. Board of Directors. She sees the position as an opportunity to deepen her connection to Untold’s work and support the leadership team in pursuing the work God has tasked them with.

“If there are ways that I can use what God has given me and steward that well by being a servant to others, I'm happy and love to do that,” she shared. “I'm just really looking forward to getting to know the other board members as well and want to use any talents or resources that the Lord has given me to further his kingdom however we can.”

Hannah and Tommy hope to visit Untold’s centers in East Africa in the coming years, but they remain incredibly inspired by the work and community building they experience alongside Untold at home in Atlanta.

“It's been unique for us because we haven't seen the work in Africa, but we have seen the work in the States and how Untold has connected hearts, even little hearts,” Hannah said. “Through things like having a family day to help little ones understand what it means to give to others and to help others with holistic health and being the hands and feet of Jesus across the world.”
